International Humanitarian Law Seminar

The European Arab Network for Judicial Training held a seminar titled “International Humanitarian Law” on May 15, 2023, via remote Zoom technology. The seminar was organized in collaboration between the Permanent Headquarters of the Secretariat of the Network, represented by the Jordanian Judicial Institute, the International Committee of the Red Cross – Amman Office, the Emirates Judicial Training Institute – Abu Dhabi, and the Judicial School of the General Council of the Judiciary in Spain.

Jordanian Judicial Institute, welcomed the participating attendees, who reached a total of 82 participants representing member states of the Network. He opened the seminar proceedings according to the agenda.

Dr. Omar Maki, the Regional Legal Coordinator at the International Committee of the Red Cross for the Middle East and North Africa, discussed the challenges of international humanitarian law in contemporary armed conflicts.

Dr. Mohamed AlKamali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Network and Director-General of the Emirates Judicial Training Institute – Abu Dhabi, presented a detailed presentation on the role of national committees for international humanitarian law, with a focus on the United Arab Emirates.

Judge Anna Lalleina, representing the Judicial School of the General Council of the Judiciary in Spain, spoke about women and humanitarian law.

Following that, the Secretary-General of the Network concluded the seminar’s proceedings and expressed gratitude to the speakers and attendees
